Don't let this name keep you away. Super-cute Jinx is such a happy girl with a constant purr and head rubs for everyone and everything! She's got bright green eyes in a pretty round face and the softest gray fur imaginable with just the tiniest white dot on her chest. She's definitely built for snuggling, and with her ebullient personality you can't help but want to do just that!

Jinx was surrendered to the shelter due to allergies. Her former family describes her as a lap cat, and they say that she uses a scratching post/pad. She has lived with dogs and other cats, as well as older children.

Jinx is between 8 and 9 years old, and already spayed. Why not make her the newest member of your family just in time to warm your home for the holidays?

The Gift of Companionship

This holiday season, consider the gift of 4-legged companionship - either for yourself or a loved one. It's a gift that can last a long time and provide so much affection and unconditional love. There are so many pets needing a loving home. Whether you go to the local shelter or find a rescue organization specializing in the type of pet you want, do take a look - there's one out there waiting for you.

For those who live alone, having a warm, animate being living with them can be great company and comfort. If you decide to give a pet to a loved one, do make sure a pet is something they would love, appreciate, and can care for. Take the time to determine what type of pet would be good. While adorable, a puppy or even a kitten might not be the best choice for a senior citizen, depending on their health, where they live, and other factors. While I personally think a pet is a great gift, that's not the case for everyone. Unfortunately, frequently after the holidays are over, pets are returned to shelters, or, even worse, let loose to wander and fend for themselves. But for animal lovers, it might be one of the best gifts they ever received.

Adopt Mohabi, a Gray Domestic Cat

Mohabi, formerly known as Eeyore, is a laid back purr factory who loves belly rubs. This snuggle puss is happy to be held or to cuddle up in your lap.

Mohabi originally came to the shelter with the name Eeyore, when the landlord told his family that they had to get rid of some of their cats. He was adopted, and lived with that family for about 1 1/2 years. Unfortunately, he was recently returned (now named Mohabi) when his family moved. They did write that he is the "purrfect cat! Very loving and loves to play and cuddle. Wish we didn't have to give him up." So now Mohabi is hoping that the third time's the charm and he will finally find a permanent home this time around.

Mohabi is about 3 years old, and already neutered. He has lived with kids, from newborn to teens, and many other cats. He loves to chase string and the laser point, and uses a scratching post/pad.

Please help us find a home for Mohabi. He's currently at Frederick County Animal Control, located at 1832 Rosemont Ave., Frederick, MD 21702. (301) 600-1546. PRESS 0 WHEN YOU BEGIN TO HEAR THE RECORDING TO AVOID THE PHONE TREE. Pet ID:11-1931

Adopt Ginger, a Black and White Domestic Cat

Please help us find a home for Ginger. She is an absolutely gorgeous girl with a strikingly beautiful face and a little tiny meow. She was brought to the shelter from the home she had known all her life for financial reasons. She was frightened at first, and has spent some time in foster care. Here's what her foster mom had to say about her:

"I have had the pleasure of having Ginger in my home for short term foster care. She has been a rose bud in bloom. I have seen her blossom in the short while she has been with me. Mostly Ginger is reserved in manner. However she can be feisty all but 8 pounds of her. Ginger knows what she wants or doesn't want and will let you know with her soft meow or soft hiss or an occasional little kitty nip. She will ask for your attention and kitty kisses or she will walk around you until you respond.

Ginger loves to be praised for any reason. She is very neat and quiet. She is still learning how to play with cat toys but really enjoys playing catch the rope and likes little toy mice. Ginger enjoys adult conversation, having her head scratched or sitting on the window sill watching the birds. She likes to have a sleeping buddy for naps and at bedtime and enjoys a soft bed.

Ginger is waiting for that Special One to be her forever companion. We are asking for an adult home for Ginger, as we know that she will thrive best with attentiveness in a calm environment."

In her former home, Ginger lived with kids from 2 to 10 years old and a Rottweiler. Her family reports that she uses a scratching post/pad.

Ginger is now about 5 years old and already spayed. This brave girl has made progress by leaps and bounds--you can help her complete her journey back to happiness! Adopt Pearl, a Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie Mix

Pearl is a female shetland sheepdog mix. She is estimated to be between 2 & 3 years of age and weighs 18.9 lbs. Pearl is tricolored-black,brown and white. The tips of her ears flop down and are just too cute. She is OOHHH so soft!.

Pearl is timid and shy. She is sweet and appreciates affection but seems to keep her guard up a little. Pearl appears to prefer a gentle softer approach. She is a small girl, who is probably somewhat scared at times. She was even a little uneasy about seeing shadows during a evening stroll with volunteers. Pearl does walk well on a leash, however does not like getting her feet wet in the grass.

Pearl was brought to the shelter as a stray. She arrived with some swelling on the right tip of her muzzle and thinning hair on her right lip. Therefore, she is being treated for a superficial skin infection. Pearl has rear dewclaws, an underbite, and some tartar on her molars. Although with this said, all you really notice about Pearl is how beautiful she is.

Pearl is a dear girl, who deserves a loving home of her own to help her feel more safe and secure. Please come see this Pearl of a girl currently at Frederick County Animal Control, located at 1832 Rosemont Ave., Frederick, MD 21702. (301) 600-1546.
